National Hydraulic Pneumatic Congress and Fair HPKON Brought Hydraulic and Pneumatic Sectors Together for the 9th Time
The most innovative products and technological developments in the hydraulic and pneumatic industry were introduced at the 9th National Hydraulic Pneumatics Congress and Fair HPKON, held at MMO Tepekule Congress and Exhibition Center in Izmir between 16-19 November. Hasan Büyükdede, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, visited the HPKON Fair, which was held simultaneously with the Congress, and visited the companies exhibiting Hydraulic-Pneumatic, Control Technique, Mechatronics, Automation and Industry 4.0 applications. The event focused on the technological development and export potential of the sector.
The 9th National Hydraulic Pneumatics Congress and Fair HPKON, organized by TMMOB Chamber of Mechanical Engineers (MMO) and Hannover Fairs Turkey Fuarcılık A.Ş., was held at MMO Tepekule Congress and Exhibition Center in İzmir between 16-19 November. HPKON brought together the private sector, academicians, scientists, representatives of non-governmental organizations and field workers from the sector and business world under the same roof during the fair. During the 4-day congress, a dynamic platform was created with the opening conference, papers, workshops, courses, panels, roundtables, conferences; 52 paper presentations, 16 workshops, 1 panel, 3 courses, 3 roundtable meetings were held. The HPKON Fair, which was held simultaneously with the Congress, was held in an area of 1,030 m2 with the participation of 39 companies exhibiting Hydraulic-Pneumatic, Control Technique, Mechatronics, Automation and Industry 4.0 applications. To HPKON Congress and Fair, Hasan Büyükdede, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey, Ender Yorgancılar, Chairman of the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry, Mahmut Özgener, President of İZTO İzmir Chamber of Commerce, Yunus Yener, Chairman of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers, Sevda Kayhan Yılmaz, Deputy Chairman of the Board of AKDER- Fluid Power Association, Deputy General Manager of Hannover Fairs Turkey Fuarcılık A.Ş. Belkıs Ertaşkın Ferron, HPKON Executive Board Chairman Şemsettin Işıl, MMO İzmir Branch President İlkin Boz, DEİK - Foreign Economic Relations Board Australian Business Council President and Board Member Steven Young and industry representatives attended.
“TURKEY IS THE COUNTRY WITH THE BIGGEST INVESTMENT REQUEST”
Hasan Büyükdede, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, made the opening speech of the 9th National Hydraulic Pneumatics Congress, which started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, “Today, a hydraulic press has ceased to be a hydraulic press. It has become an electronic device. The meeting of mechatronic technologies with hydraulic systems played a very important role. Now, the functions of the machines we build have changed” and explained the changing and transforming situation. Stating that the systems in Turkey have become important according to the new world, Büyükdede said, “Turkey is undergoing change and transformation. We now have difficulties in raising a place for our industrialists and foreign investors. The demand for Organized Industrial Zones is increasing day by day. If we have 50 million square meters of space in the Izmir region, we will place this 50 million square meters. Because Turkey is perhaps the most demanded country at the moment. The country with the largest investment demand. At the moment, we are trying to enlarge Turkey square by square meter," he said.
DOMESTIC PRODUCTION OF HIGH ADDED VALUE PRODUCTS MUST BE OPENED
“The future of the hydraulic and pneumatic industry in Turkey will be determined by the development of the machinery manufacturing industry, of which it is the 'supplier'.” Yunus Yener, President of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers (CME), started his speech by saying: “Machine manufacturers can increase the confidence in domestic products by giving priority to qualified domestic products and pave the way for domestic production of high value-added products. This will benefit the national economy as well as increasing the competitiveness of domestic producers. The increase in domestic production will be possible with qualified technical staff, increase in skilled workforce, reduce imports and eliminate foreign dependency. With the development of domestic production, the entry of machinery and equipment from abroad will also decrease. The existence and employment of qualified technical personnel is only possible with the provision of suitable working environments in the country and investment in this field.
HPKON CONTRIBUTES TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE INDUSTRY
Pointing out that HPKON contributes to the development of the sector, Hannover Fairs Turkey Fuarcılık A.Ş. Deputy General Manager Belkıs Ertaşkın Ferron stated that the Hydraulic and Pneumatic technologies sector exports to all continents in the world, especially Europe and America, and continued as follows: “According to the information we received from our esteemed sector representatives; It is predicted that the sector, which provides employment for over 10 thousand people, has reached a market size of 560 million Euros in Turkey. But I would like to emphasize that these figures are only estimates. Because fluid power technologies are a sector that provides high energy efficiency, environmental friendly and cost-reducing technological solutions to dozens of sectors. From this point of view, the market size it has reached is actually far beyond our dreams and goals. We believe that the Hydraulic and Pneumatics Congress and Fair HPKON, which we host every 3 years, plays an important role and contributes to the development of the industry. Likewise, we continue to contribute to the development of the Hydraulic and Pneumatics industry with the WIN EURASIA fair we organize in Istanbul every year.”
HPKON WILL MEET THE SECTOR UNDER THE SAME ROOF IN 2025
HPKON – 9th Hydraulic Pneumatics Congress and Fair, which was held in İzmir between 16-19 November 2022 with “international participation”, was held with the participation of nearly 3 thousand visitors, 624 registered delegates, 248 trainees, 487 workshop participants. HPKON – 10th Hydraulic Pneumatics Congress, which will be organized with the cooperation of TMMOB Chamber of Mechanical Engineers and Hannover Fairs Turkey Fuarcılık A.Ş, will bring the industry together in 2025, both in a common information platform and in an efficient trade environment.
